The purpose of the Explosion Protection Document is to determine the potential for explosive atmospheres in facilities and to determine the equipment to be used in these environments.

Explosion Protection

What is an Explosion Protection Document?

Flammable chemicals in the business of gases, vapors and dust created by the determination of explosive environments and measures are taken to ensure the work. In accordance with TS EN 60079-10-1 and TS EN 60079-10-2 standards; Hazardous Area Classification studies should be carried out in enterprises where flammable gas and / or dust are stored, processed and transported to prevent possible explosion.

ProSCon Engineering pays particular attention to the following issues in the work of the Explosion Protection Document,

  • Accurate determination of continuous, main and secondary discharge sources,
  • Evaluation of the discharge sources according to human activities,
  • Identification of hazardous zones (ZONE 0, 1, 2, 20, 21, 22) and assessment of the suitability of all equipment and connections in these zones

Standards assessed in the Explosion Protection Document

  • NFPA 654 and related industry codes

The purpose of the Explosion Protection Document (PKD) is to determine the potential for explosive atmospheres in facilities and to determine the equipment to be used in these environments. PKD should not be performed solely for equipment suitability. The PPA should ensure that all activities in hazardous areas are controlled and carefully monitored. PKD should also include explosion intensity analyzes. As ProSCon, we are not just preparing PKD. We ensure your safe work, review your designs, complete your training needs and change your culture of process safety.

Dust Explosion Risk Analysis

Dust Explosion Risk Analysis, which will be conducted with our internationally trained and experienced experts in Dust Explosions, is determined as follows:

  • Identify the hazards of dust in your business,
  • Weaknesses of the business are revealed,
  • Solutions to the weaknesses of the business
  • Increases awareness of personnel working in hazardous areas

Ex-Proof Equipment Detection and Inspection (TS EN 60079 – 17 Inspection and maintenance of electrical installations) project outputs;

  • Explosion Protection Document – Site Compliance,
  • Ensuring the continuity of the explosion protection by regular control of the equipment,
  • Determining the need for ex-proof equipment,
  • Ex-proof equipment assessment of the current situation,
  • Service compliance assessments,
  • Preventing possible explosions and fires.

“7” Essentials in Explosion Protection Document

  • Risk Analysis: The point where the risk of explosion is identified and evaluated.
    • Site Classification: Hazardous locations are classified into zones based on the frequency of explosive atmospheres and the duration of their occurrence.
    • Possibility of formation of explosive atmosphere and its persistence.
    • Possibility of ignition sources, including static electricity, being active and effective.
    • Plant, materials used, processes and their possible interactions.
    • Explosion Intensity: The magnitude of the explosion effect that may occur.
    • When evaluating the risk of flare or explosion, it is considered as a whole taking into account the places that are open or open to the places where explosive environments may occur.
